For over a decade, KA Design Studio has been dedicated to delivering refined, timeless architecture characterised by an honest use of materials and a considered aesthetic. Based in Bondi Beach, our studio draws inspiration from the Modernist and Bauhaus movements—where integrity of materials, spatial clarity, and the nuanced play of light remain central to our design philosophy.

Each luxury residential project is conceived through the lens of our clients’ aspirations, while being deeply informed by the surrounding context and climate. Our goal is to create enduring architecture—spaces that retain relevance over time and respond intuitively to both the site and the brief. We favour natural, tactile, and resilient materials, offering our clients a refined canvas that can be layered and personalised over time.

KA Design Studio takes a holistic and immersive approach, engaging in all phases of a project—from feasibility and design through to documentation and construction administration. This comprehensive involvement is supported by our expertise in customised interior design and decoration, ensuring every detail contributes to a unified and thoughtful result.

With the support of our project leaders, founder Sebastian oversees each project from beginning to end, bringing over 30 years of architectural experience along with a long-standing passion for landscape, art, furniture, and Modernist Design principles. Sebastians, hands-on approach is embedded in the studio's culture and underpins our design process. Our clients remain central to everything we do, and we believe the best outcomes are achieved through collaboration, transparency, and mutual respect.

  • The timeline for your project depends on several factors, including its scale and location, as approval processes can vary. In Sydney, most projects typically require around 12 months for design, securing necessary approvals (if applicable), and completing the full documentation.

    When it comes to construction, our bespoke architectural homes generally take between 15 to 24 months to build. These are minimum timeframes, with longer durations expected for larger or more complex projects, or for those based in NSW—particularly in Sydney.

    We’ll provide more specific guidance on likely timeframes during our initial conversations, once we have a clearer understanding of your project and can factor in our current workload.

    In summary, from our first discussion to handing over the keys, you can typically expect a minimum timeframe of 2–3 years.

  • Our full-service design and documentation fees are generally calculated as a percentage of the final construction cost. Once construction begins on site, we continue to support you, the on-site team, and the overall delivery of your home through a monthly retainer.

    For renovation projects, we also need to measure and model your existing home. This is offered at a fixed fee, determined by the size and complexity of the existing structure.

    Following our initial discussions—once we’ve developed a strong understanding of your brief, guided you on potential costs and timelines—we’ll provide a formal consultancy agreement. This document outlines our services and architectural fees in detail, giving you a clear picture of what to expect moving forward.

  • Yes, we maintain a comprehensive database of project costings dating back to 2014, covering over numerous KA Projects. This allows us to provide you with informed, realistic guidance based on both historical data and current market conditions.

    From the outset, a key part of our role is to offer thoughtful, transparent advice to help you make informed decisions about how to move forward. In our experience, projects often go off course when aspirations aren’t aligned with financial realities.
